Care on driving roads covered with snow
- For your safety driving in winter, watch the followings.
Care frozen or pressed snow.
- It is dangerous not to take tires for winter roads, because there are many steep slopes and short radius curves.
Optimisticly only chain, that's risky.
The conditions of roads there around are very subtle, before you knows snow melt, chains may be cut.
- However tires for winter is not panacea. The time you drive, check the appearance of tires especially abrasion. The thing is regular replacement of tires.
Don't exchange your life for bad tires.
- It is good idea to check your car's braking ability on frozen and snow covered roads which should be safe for testing.
With tires for winter, to some extent your brake might work on the snow covered roads, but on the frozen roads it cannot. Moreover even ABS cannot work on the frozen roads.
- Is your car a FR or FF? On the snow covered roads, according to ascent or descent, car's specific characteristic clearly appears.
FR car is liable to skid front on ascend over-steaming. FF car is liable to skid rear on descend over-braking.
Tire chain ; mount and unfasten
- There are the space for mounting and unfasten tire chains the road side.
When you feel a bit of skid, no doubt mount them. On working night, electric torch is need. Does your car have it? That's check point before driving.
- As is often the case with tourists, they mount tire chain on the steep slope. Don't do that to prevent an accident. Let cool down and go to level place, and do it.
- When the snow melt on the roads and it's getting safe, still mounting tire chains , they may cut. At good time unfasten them.
Wind wash liquid
- On the occasion of a heavy snow, getting bad visibility, and wash liquid is frozen or short, it's terrible not to be able to remove snow on the front window. Check and fill up.
Better choice; Route 41 or 257
- Which is better choice? Route 41 or 257?
There are two routes to drive for south through Gero. The divergence is in the south side of Gero. If you want to get into Chuo highway, choice is 257. If you want to be satisfied by the beautiful Nakayama-shichiri, go 41 and fresh verdure in spring and autumnal tints welcome for you.
Better Choice;when the traffic congesting between Gero and Osaka
- In the season of excursion and consecutive holidays, R41 traffic may be snarled, so you can find a non-congestion way on the east side of the Hida river.
Lodging
Lodging ; a suit to your taste
- Hotels or Ryokan; Japanese-style hotel? Japanese meal? How much?
Lodges serve you as your taste want.

- Contact when your reach will be delayed. Ryokan(Japanese-style hotel) adjusts timing of dinner to your convenience.

- There is a reason why the top heading of Sightseeing is about disposal.
Hida area is a place for many people to enjoy Nature. Trash boxes can't be set everywhere. Trash have been found on roads and the back of a private house for these days.
Manner of heartless visitors who traveled Shirakawa-go(the world property) was reported on some newspapers.
Here is not the same as the theme park which persons in charge clean trash. Visitor's good keeps the nature good. Stop to dump. Considerate treatment makes nature forever.
